Affiliate Buzz #255 – Affiliate Marketing from an Emptying Nest

In this edition of the Affiliate Buzz audio newsletter James Martell, successful publisher, speaker and author talks with wife and co-host Arlene Martell as they talk about their adventures in affiliate marketing from an emptying nest.

As is the case when raising children there comes a time when they must grow up and leave home. James and Arlene talk about the quiet they've been experiencing over the past couple weeks as their children are moving out and leaving for the summer. As with any change the Martell household is focusing a new way of life as affiliate marketers after an empty nest.

James takes a moment to look back on the past ten years of affiliate marketing and the influence it has had on their family as a whole as well as their kids individually. Having worked from home while raising kids Arlene shares the joys of being part of school events, field trips and just being available when they were needed.

James talks about the impact watching an entrepreneur lifestyle has had on their children. He talks about the successes and future goals of their children and how an entrepreneur mindset has helped them do very well for themselves as adults.

Beyond reminiscing the Martell household is up for a change. With the children independent and on their own James and Arlene are rethinking how they will spend their days without the demands of kids and errands. Making healthier lifestyle choices and getting up and way from the computer are just a couple areas they discuss adjusting.

Yet is affiliate marketing really much different after your children leave home? Well, maybe more travel time is in order! Kimberly from Tikikiki.com is a prime example of living life on the go while working from a laptop, all thanks to the freedom of affiliate marketing.

Covered in this edition:

  • Affiliate marketing after the kids leave home
  • Motivation to get up and out of the house
  • Travel flexibility with affiliate marketing
  • Affiliate Summit East

To finish up the call James and Arlene talk about the upcoming Affiliate Summit East and what's in store for attendees. James talks about the session he will be giving and Arlene shares insights on the connecting opportunities these conferences provide.

Thanks, James and Arlene! I love your podcasts, but I really love when you talk about what you two have been doing lately. My eldest is still in kindergarten, so we have a looooooong way to go before we're faced with an empty nest! (Right now we can only dream of anything empty - ie, not tripping over toys in the living room and kitchen!)

Hey Chris, yes you are so much at the beginning of the fun. I do remember thinking the same thing at the time. Now I am going to miss them, and already do for Justin and Shelby, but I am looking forward to more travel ...and we're still tripping over toys, trikes, playpens and highchairs. Arlene is loaded for bear when it comes to the grand daughter. It's lie we did start all over again in many good ways.
