In this edition of the Affiliate Buzz audio newsletter, James Martell, successful publisher, speaker and author talks with host Charles Johnston about opportunities for meeting merchants, how the affiliate is growing, getting to know you affiliate manager and why it is so important.
James talks with Charles about the freedom to attend these events and stay in beautiful resorts. He tells listeners that these are very exclusive events and that each year it is really growing. It is a great opportunity to meet merchants and really let them know who you are. He shares that this year he went out looking for merchants that he can promote on his new hobby site.
He has been working on a site around cars, one of his favorite things and was now ready to add merchants. He found multiple merchants that provided relevant products and tells listeners that these types of events open a door to getting to know each other.
James and Charles discuss how the growth of this industry can be seen in this type of event. He shares that the first few years there were lots of merchants with very few affiliates and now it was close to a 50/50 ratio. There is always a mix of people at CJU and they are all aiming for one common goal, to marry up the right merchant with the right affiliate.

Finally James and Charles discuss how important it is to really get to know your affiliate managers. He shares ways to contact them and how to follow up to make sure you stay in touch with them. He reminds everyone that the affiliate managers are there to help in any way they can and to take advantage of that resource.
