In this edition of the Affiliate Buzz audio newsletter, James Martell, successful publisher, speaker and author talks with host Charles Johnston about the Affiliate Marketers Alliance dinner, how important it is to get to know you affiliate manager and really work with them and ways to avoid overwhelm when building your website.

James and Charles discuss how this event is a real networking event with no speakers involved. Affiliates and merchants get together for a nice dinner at the Pacific Palisades surrounded by a family park and shopping on Robinson Street. They talk about the over all nice evening and how James and Arlene had stayed up way too late enjoying touring with friends.

Then they talk about some of the students from the online boot camp that attended the event and some of the successes these former students are experiencing. James talks about two brothers that learned about affiliate marketing from their father who had attended the online boot camp and decided they wanted to do it themselves. They teamed up and used the handbook to build a beautiful website that showed beautiful graphics, nice colors and nicely placed merchants on each page.

James talks about one student who found he wasn’t converting as much as he thought he should from the number of visitors he was sending to the merchant and wasn’t sure why. James says this is a time to call your merchant and put them to work. It is time to analyze the pages and work together to increase your sales.

James discusses one common thing that people seem to go through, that is the area of ‘I’m stuck’ or ‘I feel like I’m off track.’ He shares that this normally happens because they have too much going on in their heads. He shares with listeners that if they stay focused on the baby steps in the handbook they should never be stuck on more than one baby step at a time, eliminating the need to feel overwhelmed.
