This article reminded me of when someone told me “But why are you writing (about a certain topic)? People who look for your website are not looking for (this)!” Well the reality is that nobody is looking for any website/blog just for the sake of finding the cool website you have – people look for information, and if you are there for them with this information – good for your website!

I’ve noticed a lot more successful women internet marketers recently – usually doing it thru a blog and I’m not basing this on any evidence other than what I’ve experienced personally, but our tone seems friendlier and less “salesy” than male IMmers blogging. Also – when it comes to building links through commenting on blogs, women seem to be having more comments accepted for vaguely spammy comments.

I think your forth point is perhaps one of the more important, unless you have someone else writing your content – it is incredibly hard to develop blog in niche you have no interest in or knowledge.

Niche research is one of the corner stones for success on the web. Initially I did not have any clue about picking keywords – I just set up sites on topics I thought would make money. My first site was on insurance – no less.

The key thing about niche research is to pick something that is conquerable – or at least one that can bring in decent traffic. The other thing is to make sure that there is enough commercial intent.

Niche research is something that one gets better at with practice. After failing many times one figures out what doesn’t work!
