Coffee Talk Interview #30 – Rise Above the Noise with Video Marketing Secrets from Former Microsoft Executive Lon Naylor

Coffee Talk with Lon Naylor from ScreenCastProfits.com

Listen in as James Martell, a successful affiliate marketer, President of Net Guides Publishing Inc., and author of the Affiliate Marketer’s Handbook (now in its third edition) brings you yet another invaluable interview with industry insiders and innovators.  This time, James speaks with Lon Naylor, developer of ScreencastProfits.com, about how to successfully add video to your sales or squeeze pages and dramatically increase consumer response.

Naylor, former Senior Systems Engineer with Microsoft during the technology boom of the nineties, has successfully parlayed his nine years of experience in creating multi-media sales presentations for top-tier company executives into an effective and easy-to-follow tutorial program which you can use to craft videos that will enhance the presentation of your message, increase response statistics, and boost conversion rates.

As a tool for generating “first impressions” and solid consumer/provider relationships, there’s no easier way to get it right than using video, however, Naylor says, there’s also no easier way to get it wrong.

In this edition of Coffee Talk, Naylor explains the importance of video in today’s internet marketing industry and goes into some detail about the benefits of using screen capture software such as Camtasia and also lists some of his favorite video editing applications.  In addition, he shares important Dos and Don’ts first-time directors and video veterans often overlook or ignore and reveals his five-step method of creating attention grabbing videos that, when used correctly, will give you the professional quality product you need to compete.

This edition of James Martell’s Coffee Talk is essential listening for any affiliate marketer who wants to “rise above the noise.”

    James:

I love your coffee talk interviews and this one with Ron Naylor telling us how to go about planning a video is very informative.

I would love to create some How To videos for my site which takes a lot of planning and in my case people and props.

Like everything else I’m sure producing quality videos probably also takes lots of practice. It seems in this business there is never enough time.

    Keep these great interviews coming.

This is right on. I have also seen better conversions when split testing a video squeeze page and a text only squeeze page. Video always wins.

    Good post.

  3. Hi James,

    What a great podcast.

One of the things I heard in this interview that is also included in Claude Hopkins classic ” Scientific Advertising” that has been recommended by Ken McCarthy is that you take the number one feature and point it out first and specifically for a product or concept you are trying to promote through video.

It is neat to hear these fundamentals- though the mediums change- the fundamental psychology of copywriting or advertising doesn’t really change. . .

People are still going to act and behave like people. . .as time goes on.

    Thanks for this -

    Great podcast, James-

    Blessings

    • Hi Aaron,

Thanks. I am glad to hear you enjoyed the podcast. Lon’s a nice guy who has a lot of great information to share. Ken McCarthy as well. I think what I like best about these two is that they are not shy to share the real nuggets.

      • Hi James,

Pertaining to your comment above. I think you’ve also done an exceptional job in consistently marketing via teaching real stuff. From your free newsletters, podcasts and examples that anyone can grow just by tuning in. I know I have landed a lot of consulting jobs doing Drupal based websites and other marketing techniques and (starting to do SEO) for people that I learned from your Affiliate Marketers BootCamp a few years ago and the Backlinks Workshop. It has been challenging to convince some clients the importance of continuing to publish quality content as at least 50% of the battle. Thanks for staying on the leading edge and for spreading the nuggets yourself!

        Blessings,
        Aaron

        • Hi Aaron, thanks for the kudos and for dropping by. It’s nice to hear you’re doing well. It’s interesting to hear about your challenge to convince clients “the importance of continuing to publish quality content as at least 50% of the battle.” I have experienced the same. As the saying goes “you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make them drink” seems to fit for some. Keep up the good work! ~ James

This is the truth about video marketing from two experts who really know. If you’ve found this by way of searching for video marketing info, sign up for the newsletter and prepare to be thankful – I’ve had the pleasure of meeting James and Arlene and working with James, who is one of the best in the world at what he does, which I see as blogging (online publishing) for profit.

  5. Thanks Aron for the kudos. I am glad to hear you enjoyed the video. I met Lon a couple years ago at The System Seminar in Chicago. He’s a good guy who really knows his stuff.
